I wasn’t always a Gardener…

Gardening was never something I was interested in since my husband was the “gardener”.  His functional vegetable garden provided all the produce we needed each summer. But then a job change left him with little time to garden and the spade was passed to me. What was I supposed to do with it? I had minimal gardening experience and didn’t know the first thing about planting and growing a garden.

I learned all I could from magazines, books and fellow gardeners and began to put those ideas into practice. And the more knowledge I gathered, the more inspired I became. I added fragrance and flavor to the garden with an herb bed and beauty with colorful flowers. I learned how to use flowering plants and shrubs to create little hidden corners that were perfect places for sipping iced tea and enjoying nature’s beauty. And my absolute favorite addition was my little vintage garden shed.

The transformation was slow but overtime the functional garden has become one of beauty, filled with blooms and quiet places to relax in. I went from being someone who had no gardening skills to one who was able to create a beautiful garden for all to enjoy.
