Create a Glittered Jingle Bell Garland

Create a Glittered Jingle Bell Garland

Time is getting scarce as we rush through the holiday season but I have one more fun craft to share with you. Last Christmas I bought a glittered jingle bell ornament and I’ve been waiting all year to create a similar ornament. But I took it a step further and created a glittered Jingle Bell Garland.

This is a really simple craft idea. You only need a few supplies and it doesn’t take long to make. This garland is a fun way to add a little bling to your decor. I made my garland about 10 feet long but you could make it longer or shorter.

How to Make a Glittered Jingle Bell Garland…

Step 1:

Cover your work surface with newspaper, craft paper or wax paper to catch stray glitter. I put my glitter in a shakeable container such as an old salt shaker. Use the paintbrush to spread glue all over the surface of a bell. Hold the bell over the tray and sprinkle glitter over the glue. Set the bell down to dry and touch up the top of the bell with glue and glitter. A toothpick comes in handy to hold the bell in place.

Step 2:

Continue to decorate your bells with glitter and allow to dry. Once you have glittered all your bells, give them 2-3 hours to dry completely.

Step 3:

Tie the bells onto your twine. Cut your twine to about 11 feet. Start by forming a loop at one end. From the other end, thread the twine through the bell and tie it on about 1 foot from the loop. To make threading easier, tape the end of the twine to make it firm. Add another bell to your garland about 9 inches from the first. Continue to tie on the bells. Finally, remove the tape and tie the end into a loop the same size as the first. Your garland is ready to hang.

You can make your garland longer or shorter. Space the bells closer together or farther apart. Also, you can make individual ornaments by tying a ribbon onto a bell. Hang them on your tree or use these ornaments as a gift package tie-on. Once you get started you’ll find lots of uses for these sparkly jingle bells.

Besides hanging the garland, you can lay it on a table to add a little glow to your tabletop. I’m using mine on my coffee table to accent my glittered trees. I made the trees a few years ago from a tutorial I found at Craftberry Bush. This is another fun and sparkly craft. This is the season that I love to pull out my glitter and make something that glows with the twinkly lights from my tree.

Last year I created a book page garland for my tree in Pinecone Cottage. And of course, I have some non-holiday garlands such as the oilcloth bunting I made last summer. I do like garlands almost as much as I like wreaths! They’re a festive way to perk up your home decor whether you hang them from your mantle, drape them over a chair or lay them out on a table.

I hope you find some time during this busy holiday season to enjoy a fun craft such as this glittered jingle bell garland. Crafting is such a relaxing activity. And if you invite a friend or two over to craft with, you have a party.
